Adventure Sailing Dubrovnik

Huck Finn’s Adventure Sailing holiday isn’t just a sailing trip or adventure package. We designed this holiday for those who love being active outdoors, who admire art and history and appreciate ancient architecture and local tradition. Daily activities are rather short and not too demanding, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the sun. Dubrovnik, the Elaphiti shorelines and Mljet Island National Park are rich in history and natural variety – cliffs, caves, coves, rocks, beaches and pine forests. We will explore them while sailing on a yacht, sea kayaking, cycling, swimming, snorkeling and on foot.

Lopud, Kolocep and Sipan belong to the Elaphiti Islands archipelago. These are some of Croatia’s most beautiful green islands – covered by forests with lots of sunshine and sandy beaches and free of traffic. Their location is ideal – we reach them in under an hour’s sailing time from Dubrovnik.

Our experienced local guides and skippers will avoid overcrowded destinations ensuring you get the most authentic experience. You will have the opportunity to dine with local families in their homes and enjoy good food and excellent wine. Friendly dolphins or tuna that are often seen in the area often escort our yachts. The sea is blue, clear, warm and friendly.

After ten years of experience with active sailing holidays, we guarantee excellent value for money with this trip. Families with children aged 8 and up are welcome on family departures.

Itinerary

1 Boarding, Kolocep Island SUP, swimming, sailing to Lopud and Sipan Islands

Arrive at the Huck Finn sailing base 30 minutes before departure. Boarding is at 10 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays and at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The guests are welcomed on board by their crew, and we sail out after short safety instructions. Our yacht is a modern catamaran for up to 10 passengers with a lot of deck space, comfort, and very good sailing performance. We sail toward the island of Kolocep, where we stop for a swimming break. You will also have a chance to try paddleboards before stopping for lunch in one of the best fish restaurants in the Dubrovnik area. In the afternoon, we sail past Lopud Island to anchor for the night in a beautiful bay on Sipan Island.

Accommodation: catamaran. Meals: B.

2 Sailing to Mljet Island and Peljesac Peninsula

Our next stop is Mljet Island National Park, a perfect place for activities such as sea kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, cycling, and swimming. The entrance fee to the national park is not included in our price, but can be paid on the spot. A lush pine forest hides two saltwater lakes. You can cycle from our mooring to the lakes and, time permitting, take a boat to the small island on the larger of the lakes and, time permitting, visit an abandoned monastery built in the 13th century. Later in the afternoon, we sail to a serene bay on Mljet or on the Peljesac peninsula, where we will spend the night.

Accommodation: catamaran. Meals: B.

3 Peljesac Peninsula paddleboarding, swimming, snorkeling and cycling

We spend the morning paddleboarding, swimming, and snorkeling before we sail east towards Broce and Ston. The town’s stone walls are 5 km (3 mi) long and were built to protect salt production at a time when salt was an important export product of the Dubrovnik Republic. You can walk around the walls that connect Ston and Mali Ston (Little Ston), famous for its oyster farms. Peljesac is also one of the best Croatian wine-making regions, famous for its red wines. You will sail by the vineyards perched on the steep southern slopes of the peninsula, and do not miss the chance to try those wines. In the afternoon, we return to a quiet bay or, depending on the weather, Luka Sipanska for the night.

Accommodation: catamaran. Meals: B.

4 Elaphiti Islands sailing, departure

On our way back to Komolac, we sail by the green Elaphiti Islands. Disembark around noon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and by 4 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. If you are visiting some new places in Croatia, feel free to ask your guides for recommendations. They know all the best places, and can point you to some that are less popular, but nevertheless beautiful.

Meals: B.

Note:

We sail when the weather and itinerary allow it. Sailing is our preferred mode of transfer, and our skippers are very experienced, but sometimes a choice needs to be made between getting somewhere in time for a meal or an activity, or raising the sails and turning off the motor.

This itinerary and the duration of the activities are subject to change due to group abilities and preferences, weather conditions and forecasts, water levels, special events of interest, etc. Huck Finn guides and trip leaders will do their utmost to ensure the best possible experience for their clients without compromising safety at any time. This may mean changing the original itinerary to avoid discomfort or risk which could be caused by exceptional situations. Huck Finn reserves the right to alter the itinerary without prior notice.
